Quarrying and hauling stone by horse and wagon from the nearby Milwaukee River, the finishing touches were added in 1895 and the Hovener family moved in. In 1995 we purchased the property from Louisa Hovener and in 1997 we opened The Family Farm of Ozaukee County, LLC. This seasonal agri-business invites families, schools and groups of all kinds to visit the original farmstead, our friendly farm animal zoo, five historic buildings, antique tools on display, nature walk, wagon rides, gift and antique shop and café serving lunch, snacks and seasonal goodies. And now we welcome you to The Family Farm B&B to share this testament to Wisconsin farming heritage. The home has 2 foot thick stone walls, 10' ceilings on the first floor, large rooms and plenty of original Hovener family antiques to complement the decor.
